Hi guys!! I'm joining my friends at the Silhouette Challenge this month to do something related to back to school. So I had to make some custom bookmarks for my Lil Bit. Now that she's in first grade, she's a big reader and it constantly trying to learn new words and digging into new books.

Even better, I'm going  to teach you how to tell your silhouette to cut two different materials by using colors. I can't express to you how easy this is. All you need is some cardstock, adhesive vinyl, and thin ribbon.

Find a bookmark shape in the silhouette store. Then, select a pattern, design, or text to put in your bookmark. So we have a design, but how do you tell the silhouette what is a cardstock cut, and which is a vinyl cut? Simple...we color the design! I left the parts that I wanted to be out of vinyl red on the Silhouette screen and made the cardstock green.

Then I went to the cut settings screen, and selected each color and assigned what each color was. When I was cutting cardstock, I just made sure just the green was checked. I made sure that my blade settings were correct, and then I was ready to go. And then, I just uncheck green, check red, change my blade settings, put my vinyl into the silhouette, and go!

Then, all that's left is placing the vinyl and tying ribbon in the hole. I have a feeling I'll be making more bookmarks very soon!
