Are you ever stumped on what to give your male significant other for Valentine's Day? I mean, do you want to give him something tangible and meaningful...and something that he wouldn't be embarrassed to have sitting on his desk?
That's my struggle today.
And by chance, if you are my husband reading this, you need to stop right there mister and not read another word. Because you've already caused problems with one gift this year. If you work with him...don't tell him that I'm writing this!!
Okay...is he gone? Good.
One thing that my husband and I do together is watch movies and t.v. together. And we really have very similar tastes. I'm not a big fan of chick flicks...so we mostly watch adventure and science fiction/fantasy type shows and movies, with the occasional cop/detective show thrown in.
So one of the shows we enjoy is a SyFy show called Haven. It's based on some Stephen King writing...I'm not a fan of his normally, but this show is good. It's got a certain level of crazy stuff happening...with a couple of cops thrown in.
I don't want to give anything at all away to those of you who may not have seen the show. But there is an object that appears several times in the show that has these words on them: Omnia Vincit Amor. That's Latin for Love Conquers All. It's subtle, it's sweet, and it has a hidden significance. So I thought I'd make a little printable for him for Valentines, and then dress up the frame with some subtle washi tape action.
So here's the printable:
I wanted a more masculine pattern for the background, so I put a herringbone pattern behind the text.
And here's how I dressed up the frame. I took a Ribba frame from Ikea (5x7 size).
I ran two rows of gray on translucent diagonal striped washi tape around the edge of the frame.
I think it's subtle, but dresses it up a little, without being girly. It actually changes how it looks based on the play of the light on the tape.
What are you making for your significant other for Valentines?

That's a cool, quick, and easy way to dress up a frame. I'm not getting my man a gift, but he's okay with that. And I'll let him pick what we watch on TV tonight. :)
