Fall Tablescape with Pompom Pumpkins

Hey! Did you notice the new look of my blog? If you read this blog via email or rss feed, please swing by the blog and check out the new look. I'd love to get comments! Thanks!

Most of the time, my dining room table looks like this.

I know. Exciting, right? But my twins are in the grab and dump phase--with everything...food, knick knacks, and so forth. So I have to keep things small. And out of their reach.

But around our house, we do quite a bit during the fall season, and I wanted to go ahead and create some kind of fall tablescape. I have collected some fall type decor, and I also "shopped" around my house.

But I still needed something more. So since I found a large ball of orange yarn at a church yard sale (for a quarter!), so I went to work. Doing what?

Making pompoms.

I'm not going to go through a tutorial to make pompoms. There are several methods out there, using forks and other sorts of things. I was lucky enough to be given a pompom maker:

So I made a bunch of orange pompoms. And then I decided that they looked a lot like pumpkins, without stems.

So I decided to add some stems and call them pumpkins. First, I found the strand that ties the pompom together.

And then I took part of a brown pipe cleaner and threaded it under that central strand.

Once you twist the piece of pipe cleaner together, you have a pumpkin.

It does get a little addictive making these little guys, and all of the sudden you may find a whole army of pumpkins in your house.

So I took the other items that I already had in my house, added some pompom pumpkins into the mix, and for only $.25 I had a little tablescape:

...with little pompom pumpkins.
