Patriotic Funfetti Trifle
7:22:00 AM
Back many moons ago, I wrote a basic primer on how to builda trifle. It was one of the first recipes I ever shared here at Architecture of a Mom. These things are easy, ya'll. Which, of course, is why it's a go-to
dessert for me. I wanted to create a patriotic trifle this weekend for some friends, and you
won't believe how easy it is to get some oohs an ahhs when you serve dessert.
Here's what you need:
1 patriotic funfetti boxed cake mix, prepared according to
directions
1 box of instant pudding, prepared according to package
directions
Food coloring
1 lb strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 can of whipped cream
Prepare cake mix according to directions. You're going to
cut the cake up, so it doesn't matter what size or shape the cake pan is. Allow
to cool.
Prepare the pudding according to package directions, only
add about 10-12 drops of blue food coloring when mixing. Allow to set in the
refrigerator, according to directions.
In a clear bowl, layer about 1/3 to 1/2 of the cake into the
bottom. Add about 1/2 of the strawberries. Spread 1/2 of the pudding on top.
Repeat with the rest of the cake, the rest of the berries (minus one or two
strawberry for garnish), and finish with the pudding. Refrigerate. Right before
serving, garnish with a strawberry and lots of whipped cream.
