Crochet Circle Blanket

Do you remember back in August when I told you about the progress I was making on Lil' Bit's circle blanket. Well, after long last, I have finished!

Crochet Circle Blanket with Granny Squares

I told you that I was basing my blanket on the one at Icing on the Cake. I followed all of her instructions from Round 1 to Round 4. However, my relative inexperience in crochet...betrayed me. I simply could not understand how to join the squares as I went. So I went back to pinterest and did a little bit of research. I based my joining method on the one at Carina's Craft Blog. After everything was joined together, I created my own border. If you want to do this afghan, follow these steps:

Go to Icing on the Cake and make all the granny squares, Rounds 1 through 4. The colors are rounds 1-3 and the white is round 4. It really does work better if you mass produce all the circles and then do the white all at once.

Crochet Circles

Arrange the squares in a pattern you like.

Go to Carina's Craft Blog and join each square into row as wide as you want the blanket to be, then join each row together.

Then do the border, as follows: Start in one corner "space": 3 ch (=1 dc), 1 dc, 3ch,  2 dc in corner space;  {*1 ch; 4 dc in chain space * repeat 3 times total. You will be at the corner of the first granny square. 1 ch; 2 dc in corner space; 1 ch; 4 dc in chain space of joining row; 1 ch; 2 dc in corner space of next granny square.} Repeat instructions in bracket until you come to the corner space at the end of your side. To turn the corner, 2 dc, 3 ch, 2c in corner space, then continue to repeat the instructions in the bracket. Repeat for all sides, then slip stitch into the first corner. Then work in all those ends....voila! You have a blanket!

I hope that makes sense! Lil Bit loves this little blanket. I'm just glad that I successfully finished a crochet project this big!

  14. Stunning! I've made so many projects, but I've never started a granny square patchwork because I'm afraid I'd get crochet ADD. I have all the stuff to make one, though. I've got to just take the plunge.

I'd be thrilled if you'd link up at this week's Off the Hook!
