Faux Chalk Mason Jar Glass
10:00:00 AM
Are you looking for a quick and easy way to make an end of year of gift for a teacher or a coach? Do you love the chalkboard look but hate the mess of chalk? Try a faux chalkboard mason jar glass. All you need for a quick and easy present is a silhouette, permanent vinyl, and a cup that you can find in craft stores. I made this cup for my oldest daughter's teacher who loves birds.
I found a mason jar glass with a straw top and a chalk board decal already applied at my local craft store, but if you can't find one, you can always make your own with chalkboard vinyl and a straw top added to a regular mason jar--but make sure the jar has a smooth side.
Then use white permanent vinyl. Take your favorite chalkboard font and cut out the name of your recipient with your Silhouette Portrait or Cameo. The thicker the font, the easier it will be to transfer.
Use transfer tape to transfer the white vinyl onto the chalkboard--no chalk needed.
Then, if you want to decorate the other side, cut a decal out of a contrasting color of permanent vinyl and apply with transfer tape. I used a bird that I already used for a Christmas decoration for the same teacher.
This project only takes a few minutes but makes a big impact and is a fun gift!
