Stamped Christmas Towels - #silhouettechallenge #giveawy

10:00:00 AM

Hi guys! This morning I have an exciting project and an even more exciting announcement! I have these super cool stamped Christmas towels to share with you:

But first, the fun announcement! Do you know that every month (or just about) I join in with a bunch of my blogging friends to challenge ourselves to use our Silhouette machines (either Portrait or Cameo)? We each do a themed project and then share them with each other! Well this month we have a super duper post because in addition to the projects we are sharing, we are hosting an awesome giveaway! So stay tuned to the end of the post so that you can win!

These stamped Christmas towels were made using a new-to-me medium: the Silhouette Stamping Kit. I envisioned using this stamping kit to make my own Christmas tea towels. I had done my research; you can use this stamp medium to cut stamps with your silhouette, but tiny details get lost with this stuff--so I kept my design simple.

So here's what you need to do to make this project:
Tea towel (I used Tekla towels from Ikea)--wash it first
Craft paint with fabric medium mixed per the fabric medium directions (or use fabric paint)
Iron
Stamping kit from Silhouette

I used some simple Christmas tree designs and made a couple of different sizes in the Silhouette Studio software. Then I cut them out of the stamping medium using the special mat that comes in the kit. Be sure to follow all the instructions--this medium is different from others that you may use your Silhouette to cut.

Apply the cut stamping medium to the acrylic blocks that are included in the stamp kit. Then apply your paint/fabric medium mixture (or fabric paint) to the stamp. I used a small brush to apply the paint.

Carefully apply the stamp to the tea towel. Repeat as desired.

After the paint dries, carefully iron the pattern with a piece of cotton over it to "set" the fabric medium.

And voila! You have your own custom tea towel!
