Ombre Fall Quote Art {Package Pals 2013}

Do you know Jamie from Creating Really Awesome Free Things? You may have heard that she created "Package Pals" which is sort of like pen pals, but for crafty folks--this is a way that we can "meet" new folks from the internet, some of whom are bloggers, some of whom are not, and exchange a little crafty gift with each other.

My Package Pal is Therese.

This Package Pal exchange is our first, and we were super excited. She's from Florida, and although she's quick to point out that she's a blogging newbie, I was very impressed with her blog, Fresh Ideas Studio. She's got great ideas, and a wonderful, fun way of writing! You need to go and check out her blog!

We talked some on email, and then realized it would be way more efficient to talk on the phone. Once we chatted for a while, we both realized that we didn't necessarily want the other girl to make a finished product for us--we'd rather receive some crafting supplies in the mail, with a little guidance! We both thought it would be fun to each do the same craft that we were sending, too. How cool is it to use the same supplies, and yet put our own spin on it, and see what the other girl came up with? We decided to do fall crafts for themes,

So this is what I sent Therese: some craft paint, canvases, foam brushes, and two fall quotes cut out of adhesive vinyl with my Silhouette Portrait.I also sent her some fall like burlap ribbon and tags to embellish, if she wished.

And this is what I came up with to craft with the items I sent her. I painted three strips of red, orange, and yellow, and blended them to create an ombre effect.

I then applied the vinyl, and finished it up with a brown paint on the edges for a pretty piece of fall art

And what did Therese send me? She sent me some velcro memo boards, duck tape fabric, a butterfly book and butterfly clips. I already am working on the projects that these crafty goodies will be in--I think I see a drop zone that incorporates some of these items...if I can keep my girls away from the pretty butterflies!!

If you want to see what Therese made with our packages, you'll have to go over to her blog. It's even easier than my project, I think--with spectacular results!
