Pom-Pom Valentine Centerpiece
8:07:00 PM
Did you know that I have a somewhat unhealthy fascination
with pom-poms?
Or do you call them pompoms? Or maybe pompons?
Anyway, I think that they are super cute. I mean, despite the
fact that my children [and cats!] think that they are toys, I insist on
decorating with them, like I did here in my Pumpkin Garland. And I think that they make great decoration on gifts. I still
love this little pom-pom blanket that I made for my coworker’s little girl.
Anyway, I wanted to create a Valentine’s Day centerpiece, and
given my love of pom-poms….well, you may be able to guess where this
is heading.
I took an awesome little cache pot from Ikea. This little guy is cute without being overly girly--it's the Skurar plant pot, and at $3.99, it is a inexpensive investment...I can see me using this for all kinds of things!
Then I took a whole bunch of pom-poms I made using this technique I shared with you previously. In order to make the stems, I just pushed some pipe cleaners through the center of the pom-poms.
I wrapped a bunch of baker's twine that I found for cheap at Target around the planter. Yay Target Dollar Spot! Then, I used a baking soda and corn starch heart that I made at the same time as my Baking Soda Ornaments.
I think it's the perfect touch to give a little "love" to the planter...I just used some twine to tie it on! After placing all my pom-pom flowers into the cache pot, the final touch were some curly dried twigs that I have had forever. And that's it! A sweet little Valentine's Day centerpiece!
Enjoy!

So cute! I need your pompom instructions!
ReplyDeleteI use a little plastic gizmo to make them...a pompom maker. Basically, its two round pieces of plastic with a hole in each of them. You just wrap them around the two pieces that have been place together, then cut the edges and tie the center. You can look here for my tutorial...(sort of...it shows some pictures) http://architectureofamom.blogspot.com/2012/09/fall-tablescape-with-pompom-pumpkins.html Thanks!
DeleteSuper cute! What a great pot to use! Your pompom display is adorable and so cute wrapped with the baker's twine and heart! Thanks for sharing where you found your fun supplies. I've not seen the twine at Target, but I love the Dollar Spot and will have to look closer next time. ♥
