How to Build a Wooden Cake Stand
6:00:00 AM
I've been wanting a rustic looking cake stand for a while. I haven't been able to find one that I like so I decided to make one. I didn't want one for cakes, but just to decorate, so I decided to make one out of wood. (Of course, if I want to put a cake on my new cake stand I'll just put a plate on my stand.)
Not only is this project super easy, but it was also super cheap...just over $3!
I went to my local craft store and went to their craft wood area. I picked out a 10" round, a candle stick, a napkin holder and a bowl.
I used Weld-Bond glue (affiliate link)- I like it because it doesn't have any fumes and it sticks together almost everything. First, I glued the napkin holder to the top of the candle holder. After the glue set, I glued the bottom of the candlestick to the center of the bottom of the bowl (the bowl will be upside down). Then I glued the napkin ring to the center of the round. I let the glue set and dry with a weight on it.
After the glue dried, I sanded the stand and painted the whole thing with Fusion Paint in Bedford Gray (2 coats).
Then I applied a dry brush of Fusion Paint in Lamp White, wiping off most of it with a paper towel making an antiqued, rustic finish.
I love how this turned out!
I love the way it I love to party! Sometimes I link up my posts to Serenity Now, Organizing Junkie, Tidy Mom and these link parties! You should come party with me and check out some awesome new bloggers!
