German Chocolate Macaroons

These German Chocolate Macaroons are an easy recipe that's perfect for little helpers to assist with. There's just a few ingredients that come together easily by hand, so one child can pour ingredients into the bowl and the other can stir it up while the oven preheats. If you love chocolate, nuts, and coconut, you're going to love this dessert!! It's a perfect potluck recipe and transports easily to picnics!

I think I've already mentioned that I have 3 little helpers in the kitchen these days. They do really well for their ages, but I still can't guarantee that they understand that raw (eggs, meat, etc) can make them sick. Which is why I love to make desserts that have an egg-free batter. That way, when someone decides to sneak a taste, I don't worry that they will get sick.

Here's what you need:

3 cups sweetened flake coconut
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup all purpose flour

Preheat oven at 350 F. Mix together coconut, chocolate chips and pecans. Add vanilla and sweetened condensed milk. Mix well. Add flour slowly while stirring. Mix well. Place by rounded tablespoons about 2" apart on a silicone mat on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until top is lightly brown and bottom is set and golden brown. Makes about 2 dozen.
