Fresh Spiced Apple Dump Cake
6:00:00 AM
Over labor day, we went apple picking up in the foothills of North Carolina. It was the first time we've been to any orchard, and everyone had a blast. My two-year-old twins had a little bit of a hard time navigating the orchard, but we came home with loads of apples--so what to do with them? Make dessert, of course!
I made this Fresh Spiced Apple Dump Cake for my Bible Study, and it was a huge hit.In fact, I let the family have a little taste of it for dessert before I left, and I almost didn't make it out the door with anything at all.The key to success is do not mix the ingredients--you will not need any extra mixing bowls--perfect when you already do way too many dishes!
Cooking Spray
4-5 fresh apples (I used gala)
1/2 cup chopped nuts (I used pecans)
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 box cake mix
1 stick of butter
Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray a 9x13 glass dish with cooking spray. Core and cut the (unpeeled) apples into slices (I cut my apples into eighths). Lay the apples into the bottom of the dish.
Sprinkle with nuts.
Sprinkle with each of the spices in turn.
Pour the cake mix on top of the apple mixture evenly. Melt the butter in the microwave and pour evenly over the cake mix.

Bake for 40 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
